Defect Link

If we are talking about defect links (also dead links) we mean links, which aren’t working anymore. This can have different reasons, e.g. breakdown of the server, reconstruction of the structure of the site, a simple typo in the programming of the website or just the renaming of the site to create a dead link. In that case, the link is not reachable anymore. Search engine react when there are too many defect links, a negative ranking might result. This is why it is recommendable to check your link regularly. Deleted pages won’t be removed automatically from the indices of the search engines. To avoid an error message, it might be helpful for the user to create a site, with short information telling that the website doesn’t exist anymore or that the page is reachable under another link in the future.
